Our holidays are well deserved, and often very costly. So when our personal injury lawyer, Carly Sylvester, received an enquiry from a couple that had experienced an extensive outbreak of bed bug bites while on holiday, she was more than happy to offer assistance.
The couple had decided to book a weekend away in Shropshire, but after what appeared to have been a comfortable first night in their hotel room, the couple woke early in the morning to discover patchers of blood on their bedsheets. Looking more closely they saw three small bed bugs; two of which were still moving around on the bed. Further investigation revealed that the bed they had been sleeping in was infested with bed bugs.
The couple alerted the hotel reception immediately and moved their belongings to another room. Unfortunately, much of the damage had already been done. As the day went on, they both began to experience itchiness over their entire body and after examining each other, they noticed red marks had begun to develop.
The full extent of the bites became more obvious the following day. Each of them had suffered over 100 bites to various parts of their body, many of which caused significant swelling. The wife was required to have her wedding ring removed due to the swelling in her fingers.
As a result of the bed bug bites, their holiday was ruined and when they returned home they asked Carly Sylvester to assist with making a bed bug compensation claim.
