Some of our dog bite successes
We are one of the country’s leading dog bite compensation lawyers. Our team has received a lot of coverage in the media, with solicitor James McNally being called “Mr Dog Bite” by the national press. You can read about one of James’s dog bite claims by following this link to the Daily Mirror.
Some people assume that all dog bite claims take a long time to settle, but that isn’t the case as these two short success studies demonstrate.
The case of Mr A
Mr A, a self-employed plumber, visited a customer’s property and was bitten by their dog on the top of his inner thigh.
He contacted Slee Blackwell Solicitors and we agreed to deal with the case on a no win, no fee basis. The dog owner’s insurers put forward a settlement offer, but we felt our client’s injuries deserved more so we made a counter offer. This resulted in the case being settled out of court, with the case taking around six months from start to finish.
The case of Mrs H
Mrs H came to us after having been bitten on the face by a neighbour’s dog.
She was initially concerned that she would have to pay legal costs up front and could be left facing a large legal bill. We reassured her that her dog bite compensation claim would be undertaken on a no win, no fee basis. The funding was put in place and a formal ‘letter of claim’ was sent to the dog owner.
The dog owner said that he did not hold insurance which would cover him for Mrs H’s claim for compensation. This meant he was personally responsible for paying this. It never ceases to amaze us that some dog owners still don’t take out insurance.
We put forward an offer to settle the claim out of court at a level both parties found acceptable. Less than 3 months after first contacting Slee Blackwell Mrs H had received her cheque and was very happy with the outcome.
The case of Ms M
We were contacted by Ms M who had been bitten by a dog while she was jogging in her local park. As she passed a group of dogs being walked by a dog walker one of the dogs – which was on a long lead – bit her on the leg.
After a legal battle involving both the dog’s owners and the dog walker we were successful in revovering compensation in an out of court settlement.
